Gonna try to start keeping up on here!

Life just got in the way! But in a good way of course! I updated my 101 list and I hope I can accomplish some more of these things before I run out of my 1001 days! We shall see...

I took off all of the chines/japanese comments that were accumulated in my posts. Those are very creepy to me as I dont know or understand those languages and no telling what was written on them.

In my life, much has happened in the past year. I am still teaching, I went to both San Diego and Miami, I GOT PREGNANT (whoooot) and just everything is going well right now.

Ok i will make attempts to post again on here soon. If I dont, I will just delete this blog next time lol.

OK Update

1. On vacation right now! Plan to finish a flower bed, dejunk the spare room, cook and freeze some meals, and bake some goodies. Oh and I need to do taxes :-/

2. Scheduled to take a cake decorating class. I took it before, but this is a refresher for me.

3. Decided to try baking as a side project. Registered a website (which I need to design) and go register my business name. We shall see how it goes.

Not much else going on, going enjoy this gorgeous weather!

Hey did you know?

1. THE SAINTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!  I am so excited! I have been a Saints fan since I could remember and I only quit them twice (when Aaron Brooks threw the ball backwards and laughed about it and when Horn answered the phone in the endzone when the team SUCKED), but the junkie I am, I always came back to my sweet boys in Black and Gold.

2. I really am terrible with updating this blog and I need to get with the program.

3. I love lazy Sundays, my husband, my family, and clean sheets so I better get to work.

Have a great week!

Updates

1. Still teaching at both schools - mornings at the school that lost the gym on the first day of school, afternoons at the other school. Our 'bandroom' at the fire school is the cafeteria but the kids and I are making it work. Other than the lack of classroom snafu, I LOVE my job - I teach great kids at both schools that really are enjoying music!

2. I am sick at home today. I woke up with a horrible sore throat that came out of nowhere. Usually I get a warning (a tickling in my throat or something like that) but not this time - I hate missing work, especially for this reason.

3. We are going to the Midwest in a couple of weeks, Omaha to be exact for Dave and June's wedding. I have never been to the Midwest USA before and I really am looking forward to this quick getaway - yay for weddings!

4. OK no number 4 really - going update my 101 now - smile!

NOLA

Just got home from NOLA and had a fabulous time! Saturday we rode the St. Charles trolley to our favorite breakfast spot, Camellia Grill and got soaked in a rainstorm running there from the trolley, waited an hour for a seat and pigged out on omelettes. I am telling you, when in NOLA, YOU GOTTA EAT HERE - it is absolutely delicious and the waitstaff is so fun to watch. they really enjoy their jobs. While we were waiting, a couple tried to cut us in line and there were like 7 or 8 people behind us and i got all defensive and said 'Um excuse me, but ALL of us were here before you and you will have to wait your turn' - i was kind of badass lol and they gave me the stink eye, but they sure didnt cut us after all lol.

We went back to the hotel after out wet adventure with extremely full bellies and then we went buy DH some casual clothes to go eat out at Emerils New Orleans. I had gumbo for my appetizer, Hanger steak medium rare with a mushroom gravy, creamed spinach and fried potatoes as my entree, and fig and mascarpone cheesecake as my dessert. I also drank a little over 1/2 a bottle of wine by myself lol. DH had a chili crusted shrimp entre and they accidentally sent out a crawfish meatball spagetti and i am definitely searching out this recipe because it was absolutely delicious. Two thumbs up and 1 big fat belly of approval for dinner at Emerils!

After dinner we went walk along the Riverwalk with our friends and as the night dragged along my wine drinking became more obvious lol. I just remember getting laughed at by everyone and some guy on an elevator gave me a funny look.

Sunday we walked around the French Quarter and DH took alot of building reference photos because he is writing and illustrating a story based in the quarter, so i just kind of hung out. We saw ALOT of very flamboyant gay men in costume on Sunday because this weekend is Southern Decadence, a HUGE gay pride weekend in NOLA that is always fun. I took a couple of pictures and i will post them on my facebook shortly. We went to Cafe du Monde for a quick rest and each had an order of beignets. I determined that my beignets taste better than du Mondes and i really determined that i will someday open my own cafe lol.

Last night we went eat at some restaurant down the street and it was pretty good, but nothing special, then stayed in the hotel room and we rented Drag Me to Hell on the TV. It was stupid and funny all at the same time.

Today we went to Magazine Street because i love to shop down there, but since it is Labor Day, most of the shops were closed including the ones i REALLY wanted to go to. So we stopped at a Community Coffee Cafe (louisiana coffee cafes that we have everywhere here) and grabbed a cup and ate a muffin, then we left and went to the Metarie cemetery so DH could do some more reference photos for his book.

So we are at the cemetery and because of that stupid cup of coffee, i REALLY have to pee. I mean, to the point of if i dont go immediately, it is gonna come out anyway kind of pee. So i look at DH and say 'I have to go NOW, do you think there is a bathroom nearby - he goes, just open the car door and pee in the grass. In my desperation, i did exactly that. I apologized profusely to the spirits because i felt so guilty but i just could not wait another second to pee lol.

and we stopped at the apple store in Baton Rouge on the way home. and that was our weekend :)

if you read through all of this, you get a cookie or how about a beignet instead!

The Roof is on Fire...

So I started the school year on fire...literally. On the very first day of school, about 5 minutes after the final group of students left for the day (I just happened to have duty), the gym burned down. A few other teachers, about 300-400 students, and myself had angels watching over us that day because literally the GYM BURNED DOWN ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER WE LEFT THE GYM!!!! Thankfully NO ONE was hurt and no students were on campus because I believe had that fire started minutes earlier, it would have been a sad mess. The gym was newly renovated (first and ONLY time that it was used) and there were men working on the roof, which is where they think the fire started. Thanks to the firemen, the school was spared, even the classrooms connected to the gym (for now those classes are not being used and the students are in temporary classes at a church just down the street).

This (and other scheduling issues) has now changed me from teaching at 2 schools and now I am officially teaching at only 1 school (not the school that caught fire) for the remainder of the year. This is great for me :) but sad for the kids at the other school :(

On the upside also for me, there were only about 30 kids in the band last year at the school I am teaching at. With my mad recruiting skills, I am anticipating about 100 kids in my program in my first year at this school - I am so pumped!!!!
